I am looking at 69 1600GT and want to make sure the identification numbers on the car or correct. The car I look at has stamped numbers on a bracket right in front of the battery storage area and stamped numbers beginning with G on the raised panel to the center of the battery box where normally i see a BMW vin plate. Most pictures I have seen show a BMW Vehicle identification plate riveted next to the batterybox toward the center of the car. This car does not have that! I want to be an owner and member of this club but I don't want to make a mistake. Your help is appreciated.
Danke / thank you,

Hi there,
I don't think you have to worry. The VIN number is stamped just in front of the battery box and a second number, starting with a G is stamped above/on the firewall. It appears to me that this number is a serial number of these bodies. I can see the same on my car as well as on my 327.
Good Luck
