My Glas 1700GT smells of petrol.
I suspect the smell is coming from the fuel system's float chamber external vent (Schwimmer-kammer-AuBenbeluftung).
Has anyone tried fitting a charcoal filter to the vent valve?

Re: Petrol smell / Benzingeruch
Hallo Rory,
I don‘t know any Glas with Solex RH which does not smell of petrol. It is coming from the float chamber, the carburetors and the fuel tank cap.
If you connect a charcoal filter you have to think about unloading the filter. Modern cars have a regeneration valve.
Alternatively you could connect the vent to the air filter. Under normal operating conditions the fuel is getting very hot. Therefore always fuel steam is coming from the float chamber vent. A charcoal filter would be saturated soon.
Parking the car after a tour it’s smelling for some hours from the vent, the carburetors air jets and the air filter. Thats why I have installed a venting to my garage.
Regards, Michael
